Saturday, October 5 – 7:00pm – UNCSA ACE Theatre Complex
Directed by James Andrew Walsh
USA/UK / 2024 / English / 98 minutes / Hybrid Feature

Oscar Wilde About America reimagines Wilde’s 1882 American tour as a present day cross-country roadtrip. This big-hearted romp from New York City to Hollywood, CA leads Oscar to the queer joy, love, and liberation that eluded him 141 years ago, with the attendant themes of diversity, identity, and inclusion beautifully expressed in the film’s original song, “Be Yourself, Everyone Else Is Taken”, based on one of Wilde’s most popular quotes. Filmed in London and in multiple locations across the United States (including Winston-Salem!), the film stars West End star Oscar Conlon-Morrey as Oscar Wilde, and features film/tv/stage veterans Rosemary Harris and Kate Burton.

Director James Andrew Walsh, Executive Producer Kimberly Chesser, and Actor/Performers Randy Jones and Sushi Keywest will be in attendance for the Q&A.

This film is sponsored by the Winston-Salem streaming series, Gin & Platonic.
