Kartik lives a contented life with his boyfriend in Mumbai, far from the prying eyes of his religious family. He is shocked to discover that his father has arranged to marry him off to his childhood friend, Neela. Kartik impulsively comes out to his mother, the only person who has ever really attempted to understand him. His decision presents serious ramifications that could not only destroy his relationship with his parents but also threaten his safety and well-being.
Join us as we welcome producer, Mohammed Shaik Hussain Ali, and actor, Mona Ambegaonkar, to Winston-Salem for the screening and a Q & A. A reception honoring Ali, Mona and OUT at the Movies’ amazing volunteers will take place immediately following the Q & A at Canteen Market & Bistro, 411 W. Fourth Street. Evening Shadows is inspired by Ali’s life as a gay man in India.
